The 2022 World Series game is set: It will be the Houston Astros vs the Philadelphia Phillies in the Fall Classic starting this weekend. The Astros were the #1 seed in their side of the bracket and steamrolled their way to the American League pennant. Houston is a perfect 7-0 to start the playoffs and capped an ALCS sweep of the yankees on sunday night. They will host Games 1 and 2 of the World Series on Friday and Saturday at Minute Maid Park.
The last team, against? Who did the Astros lose? That would be the Phillies, who clinched a playoff spot in Houston on October 3rd. They now have ambitions to celebrate in Houston again after a magical run that saw them capture their first National League pennant since 2009. The sixth-ranked Phillies were the last team in the NL bracket in those expanded playoffs, but are 9-2 in the postseason and knocked out the NL Central champion. Bryce Harper hit the biggest home run of his life on Sunday, launching a two-run blast in the eighth inning to give the Phillies an NLCS Game 5 victory over San Diego.
It’s been an exciting October so far, but fans will have to wait four baseball days until the World Series begins. Both teams will be well rested by the time the Fall Classic kicks off on Friday night.
