Zion Williamson looks ready to tear the NBA apart.

The 2019 number one draft pick sent basketball fans into a spin after releasing a video on all social media platforms this week.

In an ad for the release of his second signature shoe, Williamson looked more like he was ready to line up as a defensive linesman in the NFL rather than stepping onto the hardwood.

Footage of the 198cm forward should terrify and put the rest of the league on notice as the New Orleans Pelicans star prepares to return to action.

Williamson missed the entirety of the 2021-22 season due to a foot injury and has only managed to compile a total of 85 games across three seasons.

As the sideline stint grew, the whispers surrounding Williamson’s future in New Orleans took off.

Williamson however put those rumours to bed and looks set to put pen to paper on a monster max-rookie extension this off-season.

“I do want to be here. That’s no secret,” Williamson said, via ESPN.

“I feel like I’ve stood on that when I spoke. It was a long year for me for rehab and mental battles. I’m fine now.”

Eligible for a five-year, $181 million ($261m) extension, Pelicans VP of Operations David Griffin labelled it an easy choice.

“I think it’s not a big decision,” he said on The Ryen Russilo Podcast.

“It’s a pretty easy decision. The kid is historically good when he plays — two different ways. He played a season being historically good as a back-to-the-basket big, and he played a season being historically good as ‘Point Zion’…this is a max player. That’s easy.

“We’re all the way in with him, and I think we always have been.”

Unfortunately Williamson has garnered his fair share of criticism, with many pundits taking potshots at the star after he appeared to have put on some kilos while in recovering from his surgically repaired right foot fracture.

Reports circulated his weight had ballooned to over 300 pounds, a figure which would have made him the heaviest player in the league.

The fat shaming being thrown in Williamson’s direction now looks to be a thing of the past with the star appearing ready to bulldoze his way through the league and anybody who dare stand in his way.
